Robinson’s Cave

Located in New Straitsville, Robinson’s Cave is the historic site where miners secretly met and formed the United Mine Workers. Perched up on a hill overlooking the town, the acoustics of the shallow cave allowed miners to whisper to one another without fear of being overheard. Later, the cave was part of a farm and even housed a merry-go-round, and is now recognized as an important part of the nation’s labor history.
